MARTA is very excited to be launching the new MARTA Reach Service on March 7, 2026, the Better Breeze fare payment system on March 28, 2026, and the NextGen Bus Network on April 18, 2026! We would like to ask for your assistance in getting the word out to your communities about the coming changes.
The NextGen Bus Network is the largest and most comprehensive redesign of MARTA's bus network since the 1970s. The NextGen Network was shaped through a four-year process with guidance and input from our customers, jurisdictional partners, and members of the public to reflect the changing nature of the Atlanta region. Leading up to the launch of NextGen, you will notice in your community: temporary bus stop signs at impacted bus stops, signage on buses and trains about the changes, and some relocations of bus stop amenities where service is being removed or replaced with MARTA Reach. MARTA Reach is our new on-demand service in 12 zones across the region replacing low-density, low-ridership bus service as part of the NextGen Bus Network. Customers in these zones will be able to take curb-to-curb trips anywhere within the zones and connect to other MARTA rail and bus services to take trips outside of the zone. We are launching MARTA Reach 6-weeks before NextGen on March 7 to give customers time to adjust to the new service. More information is available at www.itsmarta.com/reach.
The new Better Breeze fare payment system is currently being installed systemwide. This modern, flexible system features open payment so customers can use a bank card or mobile wallet at the faregate or farebox, and more secure faregates to ensure a safer transit system. All MARTA customers are encouraged to switch to the Better Breeze system during the customer transition period March 28 - May 2, 2026. More information is available at www.itsmarta.com/breeze.
